Division Reading Hospital

The Abstractor will collect specific data elements from the medical records of the qualifying patient population. The Abstractor is responsible for the accurate interpretation of the definitions in order to perform reliable, valid abstraction of the required elements. The Abstractor must achieve and maintain Agency required accuracy rating for each type of abstraction. The Abstractor collaborates with clinical staff such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other hospital support staff. Responsible for coordinating Reliability Audits of peers as assigned. They are also responsible for communicating fallouts with clinical staff, scheduling and coordinating data review meetings as appropriate.

Position Requirements

Formal schooling equivalent to: Associate degree or specialized training: Nursing, Laboratory Technician, Respiratory Therapy. Prefer advanced training such as A.R.T., M.T. (ASCP), A.S.M.T., Nursing, Biology (Pre-Med, Pre-Vet). Must have extensive knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Disease processes.
