The HIM Professional Services Coding Specialist for Anesthesia is responsible for providing accurate diagnosis, surgical and ASA coding for Anesthesia providers. Correct code assignment is based on required coding criteria for ICD-10-CM, CPT, ASA and consistent with established industry and regulatory coding compliance guidelines. Coding Specialist will collaborate with anesthesia providers to ensure accurate, timely documentation supporting coding compliance

Position Requirements Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED (required)
Medical Coding training (i.e. Coding certificate program, preferably through AHIMA, AAPC, Community College)
Associate Degree: Health Information Management, Medical Coding/Billing (preferred)
**Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Certifications (required):
Preferred credentials: CCS or CPC with CANPC
Experience and Skills:
2+ years active Anesthesia coding experience preferred, including the ability to code and crosswalk ASA codes.
Demonstrated proficiency and experience with surgical coding using CPT guidelines and related reimbursement/regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated proficiency to code ICD-10-CM diagnoses to the highest specificity
Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, pathophysiology, ICD-10-CM, CPT,
Strong communication, analytical, investigative skills to maintain coding data integrity.
Experience with EHR, preferably Epic systems
