Patient Advocate- Full Time-Day Shift

Description The Patient Advocate serves as a liaison between patients, families, and Reading Hospital, in order to obtain solutions to non medical problems, complaints, and unmet needs for service and support. The advocate educates patients; investigates patient and family inquiries or concerns and directs them to appropriate staff for answers and solutions assuring that follow up with patient and family occurs.
This individual also prevents complaints by counseling with supervisors and managers who see a problem developing; offering suggestions to resolve potential complaints; modifying practices that cause repeated complaints.
The advocates serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and jcaho standards.
Position Requirements Education:
High School/GED Required
2 year / Associate Degree: Human services field(preferred)

Intense advocacy and customer service experience in the field of human relations or nursing
Experience advocating in difficult situations
Prior hospital experience preferred
Must demonstrate excellent communication, public relations, interpersonal, advocacy, negotiation,and organization skills.
Exemplary critical thinking skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to function in a fast paced environment
Ability to work with people of all levels
