Description The Genetic Counselor performs genetic risk assessments; offers genetic counseling to individuals and families regarding inherited cancer risk and risk management; recruits patients for high risk assessment programs; facilitates appropriate research enrollment; provides community outreach; and participates in collaborative research projects, program meetings, and program development.
This program at Reading Hospital is a collaborative effort between doctors, nurses, and the genetic counselor.

Position Requirements In order to qualify for this exciting opportunity:
•Bachelor's Degree (Required); Master's Degree: Genetic Counseling (Preferred)
•New graduates are highly encouraged to apply
•Certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics (or eligible for certification) (Required)
•Licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania (or possesses temporary licensure) (Required)
•3 – 4 years of experience (Preferred)
•Required Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to use when interacting with leadership, patients, and interdisciplinary care team, Ability to analyze information and use critical thinking to provide proper judgment and recommendations in the provision of patient care, Ability to use computer systems and applications
